However, Albirex Niigata coach Koichi Sugiyama didn’t cut the figure of an unhappy man after the final whistle had been blown last night at the Woodlands Stadium.
While it was clear that he had wanted to keep the run going — in the last few minutes of the game, Sugiyama chased a loose ball down to restart the game as quickly as possible — the Japanese was full of praise for the Rams.
“Woodlands are a very good team...with Shimono!” joked Sugiyama at the end of the match, referring to former Albirex man Atsushi Shimono. “Winning six games in a row is difficult, but the important thing is that we are still in a good position in the league. And even though we didn’t win, the players did a very good job."
